Campbell Page acknowledges the traditional custodians of this land in which we work and meet, and respect elders both past and present.
NAIDOC Week is held in the first week of July every year to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, culture and achievements. This year Campbell Page participated in NAIDOC Week celebrations in many of our hubs, with celebrations continuing long after the official NAIDOC Week has ended. With so many events and celebrations, Campbell Page has unofficially extended NAIDOC Week to NAIDOC Month!

One of the highlights from NAIDOC Week 2016 Koori Boori Culture Day that Campbell Page sponsored. The day was focused around Indigenous youth in the community, and saw the attendees participate in singing, dancing, Ochre painting, and even featured a performance from The Koori Choir Group. The day was held in collaboration with Grand Pacific Health: Healthy for Life, Eurobodalla Koori Employment Network, Southern NSW LHD AMISH & BHS Aboriginal Mums and Bubs and Mogo Indigenous Services.

NAIDOC 2

Our other Campbell Page Hubs have been getting involved in the NAIDOC celebrations with the Mogo Hub hosting a community BBQ, the Eden Hub has sponsored other NAIDOC community events and the Corrimal and Wollongong Hubs have been listening to traditional music and promoting NAIDOC through posters aimed at raising awareness. Staff members from the Corrimal hub have also paid their respects by attending an Indigenous Flag Raising Ceremony in Dapto.

Additionally, our Eden Hub will be hosting a community open day in August aimed at celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait culture and heritage and providing information on community services that are available. The event will also feature Indigenous and non-Indigenous children from the Youth Centre performing a Welcoming Dance. Before the open day the Eden Hub will be inviting elders to teach the children at the youth centre the traditional languages of the Yuin and Monaro people, who are the traditional owners of the land.
