Disability in the Workplace: Sodexo & Campbell Page Find Sue a Job

After coming to Australia in 1998, Sue was in and out of employment until 2001 when she registered with employment services. She had always struggled to find and maintain a job due to her disability.

Sue suffers from chronic back pain which limits her range of movement and decreases her mobility.

I struggle to sleep some nights because of my disability, so you can image how difficult finding a job was. – Sue

Sue had limited experience and had only ever held jobs in factories where she had to complete highly physical tasks that would often put a strain on her back disability. With no formal qualifications under her belt, Sue was determined to find a job that made her happy, no matter how much work she had to do to get there.

Campbell Page helped me not only realise my dream but reach it.

Sue enrolled in the Hospitality Program at the start of 2017 completing her Food Handlers Certificate, Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate (RSA) and Hospitality Employability Training.

I saw an opportunity at Sodexo for Sue and got her shortlisted her for an interview – Tracy Stammers

Tracy drove her to the interview and supported her through all required checks, the application process and in completing her online on-boarding package.

I have now started working and am so happy to be in an environment where everyone is friendly, supportive and understanding of my limitations. I cannot thank Campbell Page and Sodexo enough for believing in me and going the extra mile.

Sue secured the job as a Food Service Attendant at one of Sodexo’s Aged Care Facilities and is thoroughly enjoying her new role. She joins Natarlia, who is also a previous Campbell Page, who was employed by Sodexo since the start of 2017.
